Yes, It was this particularly badass looking example, with big ol' flares, something I have a particular weakness for. But they're pretty cheap, tiny, and they seem like they'd be a ton of fun.
Does anyone here have any experience with them? Are they as much fun as they seem?

It looked so badass. And props to the guy who did it, I never would've been creative enough to think of using an Opel GT as a project car to try and make look good, and never would've succeeded either.
I wish I saw under the hood though. Something tells me it probably wasn't stock

I've had thoughts of playing with one of these ever since seeing a complete runner pop up on one of my regular CL searches for sub $1000 cars. They DO look fun.

I think that guy works at LRP. The car's been there for all the events I've attended, and always in the same spot (or at least the same parking lot).

Shit, this was at LRP? That's less than two hours from me...

My good friend had 2 of those fun little cars. Damn they are a hoot to drive but without A/C unbearable in Texas. The car windows are useless at speed, the air goes right around them.

cool, interesting cars - but from a financial standpoint, and possibly a hooning standpoint, you're better off with a c3 corvette.
